Syair Fakih Saghir: Sosial Status dan Ritual Kematian di Minangkabau Abad ke-19

Abstract

This article examines the digital manuscript entitled Syair Fakih Saghir of Surau Calau collection, Sijunjung City, West Sumatra. This manuscript has been digitized by Tim Kajian Poetika of Andalas University in collaboration with the Indonesian Association of Nusantara Manuscripts (Manassa) and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS-CDATS), Japan, with code CL.SJJ.2011.67F. Syair Fakih Saghir contains an overview about the enure of the charismatic shaykh and greatly admired by his murid. In the context of this
text, the murid is Fakih Saghir who admired his shaykh, Tuanku Nan Tuo Koto Tuo. This admiration was shown in a homage ritual that is celebrated by the society when the shaykh has died. Therefore, this text has shown the importance of the social status of ulama among the society symbolized by the cult at the time of their death ritual celebration. Through such depictions, the text shows the
identity, integrity, and text functions in society.

Artikel ini mengkaji naskah digital yang berjudul Syair Fakih Saghir koleksi Surau Calau, Sijunjung, di Sumatera Barat. Naskah ini didigitalkan oleh Tim Kajian Poetika Universitas Andalas bekerjasama dengan Masyarakat Pernaskahan Nusantara (Manassa) dan Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS-CDATS), Jepang, dengan kode CL.SJJ.2011.67F. Syair Fakih Saghir berisi gambaran sosok syekh yang kharismatik dan sangat dikagumi oleh muridnya. Dalam konteks teks ini, murid yang dimaksud adalah Fakih Saghir yang mengagumi gurunya yaitu Tuanku Nan Tuo Koto Tuo. Ungkapan kekaguman ini diperlihatkan melalui ritual penghormatan yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat saat sang guru meninggal dunia. Oleh karena itu, teks ini telah memperlihatkan pentingnya status sosial ulama di kalangan masyarakat yang disimbolkan dengan pemujaan pada saat perayaan ritual kematian terhadap ulama. Melalui penggambaran tersebut teks ini memperlihatkan identitas, integritas, serta fungsi teks dalam masyarakat.
